Working together in local communities

Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists

Our Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists can be found in store or by telephone appointment. They are specially trained to understand different types of cancer, treatment and to answer questions about medication. They can also guide you to other sources of information and support.

Boots Macmillan Opticians Professionals

Our Boots Macmillan Opticians Professionals training equips Boots clinicians to have conversations about cancer, supporting customers living with and affected by cancer. This service allows Boots Macmillan Opticians Professionals to support people by identifying signs of skin cancers on the face, assisting customers with the management of eye or vision-related side effects of cancer treatment (such as dry eyes) and signposting to Macmillan services where necessary.

No 7 Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors

Our No7 Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors are trained to provide face-to-face advice, they can help people manage the visible side effects of cancer and its treatment. Whether it’s defining sparse brows and lashes or caring for your skin or brittle nails, they offer expert tips to help people feel and look more like themselves again.

Mole scanning service

Boots offer a Mole Scanning Service which provides an assessment of moles and pigmented lesions you may be concerned about, helping to identify any that might need further attention. You can find details about this service and the cost on the Boots website.

Palliative Care Service

Boots have worked with Macmillan and the NHS to launch a Palliative Care Service in its pharmacies.

Together, Boots has created a list of recommended medicines most used by terminally ill patients and has committed to maintaining stock of medicines on this list, or formulary, at over 2,000 of its pharmacies with an NHS contract. Our Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists (BMIP) have also received additional training, developed with Macmillan, on palliative care to accompany the launch of this service.

We are delighted that this innovative partnership service won the accolade of Health Initiative of the Year at the Chemist and Druggist awards in November 2022.
