South Asian communities and cancer
Our partners

Asian Star Radio
Our partners at Asian Star Radio in Slough have been interviewing experts on cancer – from doctors and nurses to patients – to get people talking more about diagnosis, treatment and more. Listen to the episodes.
“It's about breaking down barriers.” Allia's story
Allia was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. After finishing treatment she set up a support group so South Asian women in her community had somewhere to talk about their cancer experience and get support.
She said: “When I shared parts of my experience on Instagram a few ladies who had cancer got in touch with me. I was hearing stories about how difficult it was for them to speak about it.
We need to be more open in the South Asian community when talking about cancer and encourage people to access support.”
