Benefit advice services

Wrexham Council`s Welfare Rights Unit (WRU) is funded by Macmillan to provide advice and assistance on benefits to cancer patients and their families living in North East Wales. We can discuss what you may be entitled to, help you make claims and if needed represent at appeal tribunals. We can also help our clients apply for grants and blue badges as well as signpost to other sources of support. We work closely with staff at Wrexham Maelor and Glan Clwyd Hospitals. Patients are referred by hospital staff but can also self-refer. We are able to support people safely during the current pandemic using telephone, email, video calls etc. – whatever is best for each client. We hold the AQS Advice with Casework Quality Mark for welfare benefits advice.

Catchment area:

People affected by cancer in North East Wales. We primarily provide telephone advice but can see patients face-to-face if needed.
