Our partnership
Skin side effects
Many people may experience adverse skin side effects or changes to their skin as a result of their cancer treatment.
Dany Bell, Treatment and Medicines Advisor at Macmillan Cancer Support, says ‘Certain cancer treatments can have a huge impact on people’s skin, leading to a number of unpleasant side effects such as irritation, dryness and spots. For many, this can make an already very difficult time even worse.
‘At Macmillan, we are doing whatever it takes to make sure people with cancer have the support they need, which is why we are so delighted to be working with La Roche-Posay. Together, we're ensuring more people with cancer are supported with the right advice and options to soothe and relieve their skin, which can make a world of difference as they go through treatment.’
Supporting people living with cancer
Macmillan and La Roche-Posay have worked with Macmillan Story Tellers Melissa and Adam to raise awareness of the importance of seeking support from friends and family during their cancer experience, and how individuals may experience changes in their body and in their skin during and after cancer treatments.
La Roche-Posay offers gentle skincare products that help moisturise and comfort sensitive skin. Several of their products are also suitable for patients undergoing cancer treatment. Working together, Macmillan and La Roche-Posay have created a video to demonstrate the importance of feeling like yourself again after a cancer experience and how our partnership can help:
Working together in partnership
La Roche Posay is committed to improving the experience of people living with cancer and has raised over £700k since the partnership launched in 2022.
Our partnership aims to provide information on the side effects of cancer treatment on skin and ways to alleviate these by communicating with the public on our websites, social media channels and in Boots stores. We are also exploring new opportunities to work together with Macmillan Professionals and people living with cancer.
Macmillan’s participation in this partnership does not constitute an endorsement of La Roche-Posay or L’Oreal products. *A+A study of 78 consultant dermatologists (Jan - March 2021). For more info visit the La Roche-Posay website.
