Antigone Johnstone-Burt
Antigone's background
In addition to her role as a Genomics Clinical Fellow at Macmillan, Antigone also works as a Support Line and Nurse Advisor at Breast Cancer Now.
Her background includes working as a Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist in the NHS where she established a Genomics Mainstreaming clinic in her practice.
Antigone chairs the National Genomics Working Education Group and has spoken on Genomics England's The G Word Podcast. She has also authored educational and patient information materials for both the Third Sector and NHS.
Antigone is currently working on a national pilot project to support those affected by inherited cancer predispositions. She has been offered a funded place from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to conduct an evaluation of the project. She is passionate about increasing awareness of the benefits that genomics will bring to those affected by cancer.
Antigone has completed an MA in English Literature and History of Art from the University of Edinburgh. She then went on to study a conversion course for Nursing at Post-Graduate level from King's College London where she graduated with Distinction. Further educational opportunities Antigone has done have included MSc modules in Cancer Care and in Genomics.
