Macmillan Support Services - Wallsend
Information and Support Centres | |
Our services include an information and support, emotional support service and a bereavement support service. All services are accessible to anyone living in North Tyneside affected by cancer or a life limiting illness, including carers.
Anyone may contact the service for information and access a range of groups and events. These include health and emotional support groups, living well with cancer, a cancer survivors group, walk and talk groups and a craft group.
For emotional support or bereavement support a referral from a health professional is required. On receipt of the referral a member of the team will visit the person within their own home. They will then identify the most appropriate support based on their individual needs at the time of the visit. Each person who would benefit from someone to talk to on a one to one basis will be allocated an appropriately trained and supervised volunteer. Volunteers offer a supportive, confidential and nonjudgmental relationship, which can assist the person through a difficult time.
