About this booklet

You are a carer if you give any unpaid help and support to someone with cancer who could not manage without your help. You do not have to be living with the person you care for.

This booklet aims to help you cope with balancing work and caring. We have included information about:

- getting support at work

- flexible working

- your rights at work

- talking about cancer with your employer and the people you work with.

There is also advice for people who are self-employed.

We have more information online about supporting someone with cancer and about financial support for carers.

We want everyone affected by cancer to feel our information is written for them. To do this we use plain English and we try to make it accessible and relevant to the widest range of people. Find out more about how we produce our information.
