  • When and where does the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike start and finish?

    The full marathon and half marathon start at The Pastures, Alnwick Castle, NE66 1NQ.

    The half marathon finishes at Howick Scar Farm, Alnwick, NE66 3SU. The full marathon finishes at Bamburgh Castle, NE69 7DF.

    The full marathon waves will start every 20 minutes from 06:30, and the half marathon waves will start every 20 minutes from 08:00.

  • What is the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike route?

    The Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike allows you the opportunity to explore an area of beauty on the north east coast of England. You'll start in the iconic grounds overlooking Alnwick Castle before walking out towards the coast. You'll then follow the coast for the rest of the route, stopping at Howick Scar Farm for the half marathon and continuing up to Bamburgh Castle to finish the full marathon.

    Please note that the routes can be subject to change following health and safety inspections. Any key changes will be communicated on the day.

    2. Craster Harbour - a charming fishing village with breathtaking coastal views.
    3. Dunstanburgh Castle - a dramatic ruin where history meets the rugged beauty of the Northumberland coastline.

  • Where should I stay for the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike?

    Alnwick Castle is located on the outskirts of Alnwick which has a range of hotels and BnB's available. You can then walk or drive to the start line on the morning of your hike.

  • How do I get there?

    The Pastures at Alnwick Castle are accessible by foot, bike or vehicle. It is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Alnwick to the start line. 

    Parking for the full marathon is at the start at The Pastures, Alnwick Castle which can be found at Denwick Bridge B1340, NE66 2QP. Parking at the finish is at Glebe Field, Radcliffe Road, Bamburgh, NE69 7AE.

    Free shuttle buses will run from the finish to the start before the hike and in the afternoon after the hike.

    Parking for the half marathon is at the start at The Pastures, Alnwick Castle which can be found at Denwick Bridge B1340, NE66 2QP. Free shuttle buses will run from the finish back to the start in the afternoon.

    You can book parking and shuttle buses when you register.

  • What if my Mighty Hike gets cancelled?
    If your Mighty Hike is cancelled for any reason, you’ll be contacted by email and text and live updates will be made to this FAQ document with all the information you need.
