Faith group fundraising
Faith groups across the country help us to continue doing all that we can to support people living with cancer. Find out more.
How it works
Faith group fundraising ideas
Whether you want to fundraise in your regular place of worship, or create your own event, see some of the different ways your ideas can make a difference.
Hold a collection
Hold a collection at your place of worship to support people living with cancer. Get in touch with our supporter care team (details below) to get donation envelopes or collection boxes. Don’t forget to remind your congregation about Gift Aid.
Community Iftar
Hold a community Iftar during Ramadan either at home, a community venue like a hall or park, or at your place of worship.
With people gathering to break their fast, Iftar is a great place to raise funds. Promote your fundraising on a notice board at your mosque, hall, supermarket, or workplace and ask attendees for donations. Get in touch with our supporter care team below to get donation envelopes, collection boxes, or cancer information leaflets.
Did you know that you can ask for cancer information in different languages and accessible formats?
Coffee Morning
Host a Coffee Morning before or after your meeting and ask members to bring in baked goods.
Shirley, (83) from Thornton Heath in London, hosts Macmillan Coffee Mornings at her church each year. Shirley was inspired to give back to Macmillan after she and her son were supported by Macmillan.
“Macmillan was so good to me – I knew needed to do something. To give back something. I spoke to Pastor Richard about hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning at the church and he was supportive all the way. Grace (one of our congregation) makes Hungarian cake that sold so quickly! Everyone bakes. Pastor Richard’s wife bakes.
You can sign up to host a Coffee Morning here.
Carol concert
Organise a carol concert at your local church or school. You can either sell tickets or have a suggested donation during the collection.
Community day
Hold a community day or fete, with craft stalls, baked goods, a tombola and more. You could ask for a donation from stall holders to be there too.
Candle dedication
For a donation, light a candle and dedicate it to a loved one. You could include a message, name, or you could leave them blank. This could be a part of your normal service, or a bigger fundraising event.
Things to consider when planning your event
Making your event accessible and inclusive
View our online guide to learn about things you should consider when planning a fundraising event to make it as accessible as possible.
Keep it safe and legal
Fill in a risk assessment before your event and let your guests know about any fire escapes or health and safety matters.
