Claire Taylor MBE, Chief Nursing Officer
Claire's role
Claire joined Macmillan as Chief Nursing Officer in June 2022, where she co-leads the organisation’s Centre of Clinical Expertise, which is responsible for connecting with healthcare professionals delivering cancer care and gathering clinical insight to support the charity’s work.
Alongside this, Claire works as Senior Nurse in Oncology at London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust leading on the delivery of personalised cancer care across the Trust.
Career and credentials
Claire worked as a Macmillan Nurse Consultant for 8 years supporting patients having complex pelvic cancer surgery and previously as a Clinical Nurse Specialist specialising in palliative care and colorectal cancer.
Claire has also lectured in cancer and gastro-intestinal nursing at King’s College in London for almost 10 years, where she also did a PHD in philosophy and completed her thesis on the process of recovery following colorectal cancer surgery.

Claire lives in Hertfordshire with her husband, two daughters and Loki – a Finnish Lapphund. Claire has travelled the world on cycling adventures, from Borneo and Cambodia to Cuba and Madagascar.
